Jellyfin or Plex

Stream your library to phones, smart TVs, tablets, browsers, set-top boxes. Hardware transcoding is on by default on every tier, so a single 4K source plays smoothly to every device on your account.

We recommend Jellyfin. It's fully open-source, free on every platform, and there's no third-party account in the middle of you and your media. Apps exist for iOS, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Fire TV, LG and Samsung TVs, Kodi, the web, and more.

Freeing your media also means not being locked into a paid ecosystem like Plex.

Already have a Plex account? Plex Media Server is pre-installed too, ready for you to claim with your own plex.tv login. You bring the account; we provide the box.

Seedbox

qBittorrent + SABnzbd

Fill your library from torrents or Usenet on a fast, always-on connection. Downloads land in the same library Jellyfin (and Plex) watch, so anything new is streamable the moment it finishes.

Web UI for both. No desktop client, no port-forwarding on your home router, no leaving a laptop on overnight. Your Nest does the work.

Estimates use 1080p direct-stream as the baseline. Actual numbers vary with codec, container, and how much you let Jellyfin or Plex transcode. 4K HDR can range 15 to 40 Mbps depending on source; SD streams use roughly 1 GB/hour. Library sizes assume mid-range rips: anime fans get more episodes per GB, 4K-only collectors get fewer movies per TB.

Common questions

What is a Nest?

A Nest is your own container on our hardware. It has its own storage, its own apps, and its own subdomain. Other customers can't see into it; you can't see into theirs.

How does payment work?

Bitcoin only at the moment, on-chain or Lightning. Each invoice shows the USD amount and the current BTC equivalent. Pay before the due date and your Nest stays live.

Can I cancel?

Any time. Your Nest stays online through the end of the period you've paid for, then it's archived. Take a backup with the file browser before that if you want to keep anything.

What's the refund policy?

48 hours from your first invoice to test-drive a Nest and request a full refund if it isn't right for you. After that, payments are non-refundable, but your Nest keeps running through the end of the period you paid for. Full policy.

Do I need to know Linux?

No. There's no SSH access and no shell. Everything is in the web dashboard. If you can use Plex, you can use MediaNest.

Can I use my own domain?

Not yet. Today your Nest lives at app.yourname.medianest.stream. Bring-your-own-domain is on the roadmap.

What about content rules?

You're responsible for what you put in your Nest. We don't crawl your library and we don't run automated takedown bots, but we will act on valid legal complaints.

Is my data private?

Each Nest is isolated at the container and the filesystem level. We don't index or scan customer libraries. Staff don't poke around in there.

Can I upgrade or downgrade?

Upgrading is immediate. Downgrading happens at the next billing cycle if the new tier still fits your current usage.
